DUTIES OF A CHAPLAIN AT THE CENTRE
At African Centre Toronto (ACT), we believe that “A chaplain’s biggest gift is to be present and just listen.” In addition to offering spiritual and emotional support, chaplains fulfill various duties, including:
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual & Emotional Support
- Providing spiritual guidance to individuals in need.
- Offering counseling to support emotional well-being.
- Leading non-denominational religious services.
Ceremonial & Life Events
- Conducting or assisting with funerals.
- Performing weddings and related ceremonies.
Community Support & Engagement
- Providing assistance in emergency situations.
- Visiting individuals in hospitals, homes, or care facilities.
- Attending community functions on behalf of ACT.
- Suggesting contacts for specialized needs.
