ACT conducts continuous workshops and information sessions to equip clients with the necessary skills for job hunting. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

- Locate advertised job postings from various sources.
- Learn strategies to cold-call a company.
- Write a targeted resume and cover letter that highlights their skills and experience.
- Apply for jobs using a well-crafted resume and cover letter.
- Prepare effectively for common interview questions.
- Take the next step in their job search journey.

STUDENT PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Student placements are available for individuals who need to complete a required number of hours in their field of study as part of their college or university program.
Our Commitment
African Centre Toronto (ACT) is dedicated to providing meaningful learning opportunities for students enrolled in:
- Social work and counseling
- Administration, policy research, and communications
- Other professional programs
Over the years, we have welcomed students in various capacities, fostering an exchange of learning between students and staff. Placement students play a crucial role in helping ACT achieve its mission of enhancing self-sufficiency, promoting well-being, and reducing poverty in our community.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution
- Studying social services, social work, child and/or youth care
- Possess excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Must be 18 or older

Once submitted, you will receive an email confirming that your application has been received. A follow-up email will indicate the next steps and who will be processing your application.
Only selected candidates will be contacted for an interview with our panel.
Completion Requirements
- Students must submit a feedback/progress report to ACT management upon completion.
- Certificates of completion and recommendation letters will be issued to students and volunteers.
